What kind of agent do you want in your corner?

In this market, there are many types of agents.. What's going to be important to you is working with someone who meets Your Needs, not theirs. Whether it is someone who is there to facilitate the sale of your home, or to help you find a new home to purchase.. You need to be comfortable with them.

So, what are some of your needs that they should meet to make them your agent? 

Genuine.. Educated.. Caring.. A good listener...

Do you prefer the agent with the most advertising outlets, the one working for the #1 Brokerage? 

Someone who has a large team they work with or a solo hitter? 

These are all things that should be considered before signing up to work with someone. When you are looking for Your agent, you are not just taking anyone that is available.. because there are a lot of options out there. You should go with the one who will do the best job for you! 

You are not going to walk into a car dealership and buy the first car you see.. There is some type of research involved to find out which one truly "fits" YOU!?

Take the time to interview several agents before making a decision, watch how they've prepared for the appointment with you. Do they have a listing presentation put together and take the time to go over it with you or do they just who up expecting you to choose them. It's great to be confident, but being over confident can show a detachment to potential clients and make them seem too arrogant for the job. Which is a quality that will not win over many people.

Now, what questions should you ask during your interview process? 

How many transactions have you closed on in your previous year?  

Have you ever had any violations filed against you through LARA?

Do you have a customer rating? 

What are you going to do different for me vs. what any other agent is going to do? 

What gives you an edge on the market? 

How are you going to market my home? (For a listing)

Depending on how they answer these questions, will show you how serious they are on representing You. How invested they are in the market and how knowledgeable they are to help find the right one for you based on the criteria that is most important to you. 

Your agent is not going to live in the new home you are purchasing nor do they have emotional ties to the home that they are marketing for sale. There are many factors that go into listing your home, and working to get you the most money in your pocket.
